All year round – the Tatton Garden Society will do guided walks by arrangement around the Lovell Quinta Arboretum behind the pub. Cost £5 per person which includes the entrance fee of £2.50. The walk takes one and a half hours.  You can then enjoy tea, coffee, lunch or afternoon tea at the Swettenham Arms for the perfect morning or afternoon.  Book directly with the Tatton Garden Society on 01565 831981 or admin@tattongardensociety.org.uk.  The Arboreturm, created by Sir. Bernard Lovell, is looking lovely at the moment with autumn colours but is gorgeous all year.  There are currently swans on the lake!

From April: vintage afternoon teaCome and Join us for a quintessential British tradition – a delicious, mouth watering afternoon tea, £17.95 per person. We offer these Mon – Sat  (note not Sundays) and they must be booked and paid for  in advance and for a minimum of four people.  (This  is to avoid waste in the kitchen as the chef cannot make a batch of scones and cakes for just two people – especially if no-one turns up and everything has to go in the bin!)  The afternoon tea we offer is quite exceptional, we also cater for gluten free options. We do of course cater for large parties wanting a specific event and requiring afternoon tea,  please discuss availability with our manager.

  • Just to say we had an excellent day and really enjoyed a lovely meal, beautifully served.  The service was wonderful and everyone made us feel welcome.  We were particularly appreciative of the high level of efficiency and professionalism amongst such young staff and are mindful of the fact that a lot goes on in the background to make the day go smoothly and for our enjoyment which we do not see. We are not regular customers but as trueborn Swettenham folk really enjoy coming home and it being so worthwhile.  We will see you next year.

  • Mothering Sunday lunch. Excellent choices all served by a very pleasant waiting staff of young ladies . We dined in the Lovell Suite , what a super light room. The meal was superb, and the place was busy.

  • “We would just like to thank you and the staff at the Swettenham Arms for the really splendid 80th birthday celebration we had on Sunday afternoon, 7th February. The banqueting room looked magnificent and the meal was out of this world – our guests all remarked on the quality. Glyn organised the proceedings very well so everything ran very smoothly. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff and the ladies waiting on table were just lovely. Thank you Fran for suggesting Roy Peters he was just great with the music during the meal and throughout the afternoon. It was a really memorable day for us and thank you all very much for making it so. We will have to visit you in the summer when the sunflowers and lavenders are out!”

  • We had a fabulous Rotary President’s night at the Arms and I would recommend it as a venue for anyone who is considering a special function whether it is for work or a social occasion. We had over 50 diners who were all served promptly with piping hot and delicious food by courteous and friendly staff. All in all it was a great evening and we will certainly be back to run more functions at the Swettenham Arms.

  • We stumbled upon this beautiful pub whilst out and about on a bike ride. We’re glad we did because it was a very welcoming place. We found a cosy corner table and enjoyed an evening meal here. Good ales on too. Service friendly and very efficient. Couldn’t fault our experience here. Would definitely revisit if in the area again and would recommend without hesitation.

  • Lovely food and steak cooked perfectly. We often go here after a day out in the area as we live some thirty miles away and have never had a bad experience. The grounds and flowers are perfect on a sunny day to sit and relax with friends. Latest visit on a Sunday nearly every table was reserved but without signs on the table- had already purchased drinks and sat down for a good ten minutes with menus before being told this. Enjoyed the food and will return again.

  • “Thanks to Glyn and the team for a lovely evening at our Ruby Wedding party on 14th August, 2015.  The food was lovely and the service perfect.  Thank all your staff for us.  All our family and friends thought the Swettenham Arms was a lovely venue. Thank you once more for all your help on the night and before.” Mike and Christine Oswell, 14th August 2015.

  • Visited as a family to celebration a father and son’s birthdays with other family members. It was a great meal. The host could not have been more welcoming, felt special. Will certainly be back.
