All year round – the Tatton Garden Society will do guided walks by arrangement around the Lovell Quinta Arboretum behind the pub. Cost £5 per person which includes the entrance fee of £2.50. The walk takes one and a half hours.  You can then enjoy tea, coffee, lunch or afternoon tea at the Swettenham Arms for the perfect morning or afternoon.  Book directly with the Tatton Garden Society on 01565 831981 or admin@tattongardensociety.org.uk.  The Arboreturm, created by Sir. From April: vintage afternoon teaCome and Join us for a quintessential British tradition – a delicious, mouth watering afternoon tea, £17.95 per person. We offer these Mon – Sat  (note not Sundays) and they must be booked and paid for  in advance and for a minimum of four people.  (This  is to avoid waste in the kitchen as the chef cannot make a batch of scones and cakes for just two people – especially if no-one turns up and everything has to go in the bin!)  The afternoon tea we offer is quite exceptional, we also cater for gluten free options. We do of course cater for large parties wanting a specific event and requiring afternoon tea,  please discuss availability with our manager.

  • Just to say we had an excellent day and really enjoyed a lovely meal, beautifully served.  The service was wonderful and everyone made us feel welcome.  We were particularly appreciative of the high level of efficiency and professionalism amongst such young staff and are mindful of the fact that a lot goes on in the background to make the day go smoothly and for our enjoyment which we do not see. We are not regular customers but as trueborn Swettenham folk really enjoy coming home and it being so worthwhile.  We will see you next year.

  • “I felt I had to write and thank you for the lovely evening we enjoyed on Friday, 30th Jan for an 80th birthday party. The setting outside and in was lovely and the food extremely good, as was the service. A special thank you to Glyn and staff.  I was very pleased with everything and had most favourable comments from all the guests, I would have no hesitation in recommending the Swettenham Arms to anyone.”

  • “On behalf of the members of the Cloud Group of Women’s Institutes, I wish to thank you and your staff for providing us with a superb day on July 1st, helping us to celebrate 100 years of the WI. The lunch was most enjoyable and the weather was perfect, in fact a little too perfect,- being the hottest day of the year!!  Your staff were wonderful and very attentive and members thank them for the endless jugs of iced water they supplied to them. We all had a great day, and many thanks again to yourself and the team for their total efficiency.  It is wonderful to have a great team who take pride in the work they do.”

  • The local surroundings are lovely and set in Cheshire countryside, greeted at door immediately on entering and shown to our table, drinks order promptly taken, and furnished with menus. Quick but not rushed service we are off to a good start. The only disappointment was my duck was cooked right through and I would much preferred it to be much pinker. This made what otherwise would have been a superb dish only a good one. But still a good one. Desserts were lovely, service fantastic, so very very nearly a five star rating I look forward to returning.
