Those of you who are regulars will know that bonfire night is a big event for us here at the Swettenham Arms. We spend a good few weeks beforehand building our bonfire, which is held on the field by the Quinta Lovell Arboretum at the side of the lavender field. Holding it there means it’s accessible for everyone to see and enjoy, but it’s behind a barrier so that you don’t have to worry about your little ones taking too close an interest! We also have a fantastic firework display, with rockets, Catherine wheels and much more, again held in a safe space.
Part of what makes the perfect party is the atmosphere, and we’re on the case there as well. We’ll have music (we generally choose something with a nice lively rhythm to complement the fireworks!) to get you in the party mood. We’ve also got fantastic seasonal goodies available, including hot mulled wine to take the chill off the evening. If you’d like to book a table in the pub and take advantage of our roaring open fires, our full menu will obviously be available, but if you fancy a more casual evening then we’ve got hot dogs, burgers and a barbecue available as well.
This year, we’re holding our 2019 celebrations on Tuesday 5th November. Doors open 5.30pm, bonfire around 6.30pm and fireworks around 7.30pm to 7.45pm. £5 admission (no charge for toddlers and babies).
If you’re planning to join us for a pub meal then you do need to book, otherwise you don’t need tickets in advance, just turn up and pay on the door. We hope to see you on the night – fingers crossed for dry weather, and here’s to another fabulous bonfire night at the Swettenham Arms. It’s a wonderful night out for all the family.
