Unique Cheshire Wedding Venue

Layout 1Nestling in the heart of the Dane Valley countryside, our 16th century inn is a spectacular setting for your wedding. Visit our wedding gallery page to see some photos of previous events, and there’s plenty more on our Facebook page.

You can also click here to see a video of our wedding venue in action.

Lovell suite

Our tastefully decorated Lovell Suite, now beautifully refurbished with new curtains and crystal chandeliers, is surrounded by gardens and open countryside and in the summer months, the lavender and sunflower meadow in full bloom.

The Lovell Suite can comfortably hold up to 120 guests for a traditional ceremony and wedding breakfast, with up to 150 guests in the evening.  We can accommodate more should you wish to use our outdoor space where we have ample room for a marquee, which is a lovely summer option with which you may consider a BBQ as something totally different to the normal wedding breakfast.

Perfect photo opportunities

The Quinta Aboretum & Nature Reserve, accessible to the side of the inn, has a beautiful lake, an abundance of trees and greenery, making our wedding parties rather spoilt for choice with photo opportunities – whatever the time of year! New for 2016 is our gazebo in the lavender field, a perfect choice for photos or even for the ceremony itself.

Civil ceremony or traditional Cheshire wedding

We are fully licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, both in the Lovell Suite or in our stunning grounds. St. Peter’s Church opposite is over 700 years old and perfect for anyone considering a traditional church wedding.

  • “We would just like to thank you and the staff at the Swettenham Arms for the really splendid 80th birthday celebration we had on Sunday afternoon, 7th February. The banqueting room looked magnificent and the meal was out of this world – our guests all remarked on the quality. Glyn organised the proceedings very well so everything ran very smoothly. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff and the ladies waiting on table were just lovely. Thank you Fran for suggesting Roy Peters he was just great with the music during the meal and throughout the afternoon. It was a really memorable day for us and thank you all very much for making it so. We will have to visit you in the summer when the sunflowers and lavenders are out!”

We had a lovely evening, enjoyed everything. Bonus of half price food too, ends at the end of November but hurray, back on for January and February 2020.

The food was superb and even the pickiest eaters said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding . I have nothing but praise for Glyn and his team for the seamless management of the wedding breakfast . They helped to make a wonderful day even more special.”

  • “On behalf of the members of the Cloud Group of Women’s Institutes, I wish to thank you and your staff for providing us with a superb day on July 1st, helping us to celebrate 100 years of the WI. The lunch was most enjoyable and the weather was perfect, in fact a little too perfect,- being the hottest day of the year!!  Your staff were wonderful and very attentive and members thank them for the endless jugs of iced water they supplied to them. We all had a great day, and many thanks again to yourself and the team for their total efficiency.  It is wonderful to have a great team who take pride in the work they do.”

  • We stumbled upon this beautiful pub whilst out and about on a bike ride. We’re glad we did because it was a very welcoming place. We found a cosy corner table and enjoyed an evening meal here. Good ales on too. Service friendly and very efficient. Couldn’t fault our experience here. Would definitely revisit if in the area again and would recommend without hesitation.
