The Swettenham Arms is licensed for Civil Weddings & Ceremonies.

Nestling in the tranquil heart of the Cheshire countryside the heavily timbered pre 17th century Swettenham Arms provides an ideal venue for special weddings, being surrounded by delightful gardens a huge car park and offering our exquisitely furnished Lovell Suite. St Peters Church opposite is 700 years old and is said to have once been linked to the pub, a former nunnery, by an underground passage.

We Have A Very Spacious Private Car Park.

We have an arrangement with nearby Cranage Hall, which is just over 3 miles away. This is equivalent to a 4 star hotel and transport can be arranged. The cost per room, including breakfast and full use of their extensive leisure facilities, is £85 for a double and £75 for a single. We can also recommend nearby B&Bs at cosy farmhouses.

Civil Weddings

We are licensed for Civil Weddings at The Swettenham Arms. Our beautiful Lovell Suite is an ideal setting for a special Ceremony and our staff will ensure that your day is as perfect as possible.

We understand that some people may have concerns that a Civil Ceremony may be impersonal and rather cold and may not allow you to make the vows and promises you may wish to make to each other. We would like to assure you that we here at The Swettenham Arms and the local Registrar want to make your Wedding Day a truly memorable one for you and your guests.

Your wedding ceremony in our Lovell Suite will be a very special occasion. We would welcome the Bride & Groom to have bridesmaids, a best man and groomsmen and we can try to incorporate many of the traditional aspects of a marriage ceremony if desired.

The ceremony is designed to reflect the special feelings that you have for each other and allow you to make a commitment to your future together. We know from comments, made by previous quests, that they found the whole ceremony here very special and very moving.

You could enhance the ceremony by the addition of' a special reading or the use of singers or music to help make your ceremony even more personal and individual.

It is our aim here at The Swettenham Arms that this very special day is a truly memorable one not only for the newly weds but for all of their guests.
