With the Quinta Lovell Arboretum right behind us, two beer gardens and our lavender field to the side, the Swettenham is certainly the place to be in the summer. If you’ve only ever visited when the weather’s balmy, though, you’re missing out on a lot of what we’ve got to offer. With a menu stuffed full of delicious food such as breast of Goosnargh duck a l’orange (or steam, ale and mushroom pie if you’re in the mood for something a little less fancy), we’re the ideal venue for an indulgent weekend lunch or delicious evening meal in the winter.
To help the atmosphere, we’ve got two real log fires, sofas with cushions and a wide choice of real ale. Don’t just take our word for it, though – the team at Cheshire life have included the Swettenham Arms in their list of the ‘Top ten cosiest pubs in Cheshire‘, updated for 2017.
Here’s what they’ve got to say about us:
‘Spend an afternoon at the Swettenham Arms, where you can drink real ale provided by local artisan breweries and sample a menu created with carefully selected local ingredients, all by the pleasant open fire of the pub. The Swettenham Arms has a unique charm with its very own lavender meadow created in 2005. It is said to add a dreamy ambience to the grounds and you’ll often find fresh lavender at the table when you dine.’
So what are you waiting for? Grab the kids, walking boots and dog (yes, we’re dog friendly too), and whet your appetite with a long country walk or a stroll through the Arboretum, glorious in its autumn colours. Then, pile back to the pub for a well-deserved lunch and a rest in front of the file – we look forward to seeing you. Visit our food page to view and download our current menu.
