Lavender

At the back of the pub is a glorious lavender field, the perfect place for summer drinks. If you took a photo of our lavender in its full glory, we’d love to see it.

  • First visit and def won’t be the last. The staff are friendly and happy. Very clean and the food was amazing, best steak I’ve had in a long time, cooked just how I asked. Hope to return soon, I will be telling everyone about this hidden gem.

  • Called in today and the place is a typical English pub. Beams horse, brasses and a lovely atmosphere. Great place for a pub lunch so try it if you are in the area.

  • “The food quality here dipped a few years ago but is now consistently good. The menu could be considered old-fashioned, but to many of us that is a plus point! The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is freshly cooked and good quality.”

  • “We would just like to thank you and the staff at the Swettenham Arms for the really splendid 80th birthday celebration we had on Sunday afternoon, 7th February. The banqueting room looked magnificent and the meal was out of this world – our guests all remarked on the quality. Glyn organised the proceedings very well so everything ran very smoothly. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff and the ladies waiting on table were just lovely. Thank you Fran for suggesting Roy Peters he was just great with the music during the meal and throughout the afternoon. It was a really memorable day for us and thank you all very much for making it so. We will have to visit you in the summer when the sunflowers and lavenders are out!”

  • Lovely food and steak cooked perfectly. We often go here after a day out in the area as we live some thirty miles away and have never had a bad experience. The grounds and flowers are perfect on a sunny day to sit and relax with friends. Latest visit on a Sunday nearly every table was reserved but without signs on the table- had already purchased drinks and sat down for a good ten minutes with menus before being told this. Enjoyed the food and will return again.

  • We just wanted to thank all the staff who helped make Andrew and Jen’s Wedding so special.  Everyone had a wonderful time and so many guests commented on the beautiful venue and fabulous food.

  • “The cafe menu had a good range on offer. Good place to end or start a walk or even midway. We tried the sandwiches that were excellent. Currently only takeaway.”

  • We had a small private function in the Lovell Suite at the Swettenham Arms last week, comprised of afternoon tea for approximately 20 people. Everything was extremely well organised and our waitress was very attentive.

  • We haven’t been for a year but as the weather was super today and it’s a lovely drive we headed out into the country. There was a classic motor bike meeting and some fantastic cars from local people, we both ordered the scampi which is one of the best that we have had .

  • “Get yourselves over to the Swettenham Arms now. Serving takeaway food and non alcoholic drinks for a bit of normality in this Covid lock down. Then take a walk around the Quinta Arboretum and visit the Church. Perfection. A special country pub.”
