  • “We would just like to thank you and the staff at the Swettenham Arms for the really splendid 80th birthday celebration we had on Sunday afternoon, 7th February. The banqueting room looked magnificent and the meal was out of this world – our guests all remarked on the quality. Glyn organised the proceedings very well so everything ran very smoothly. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff and the ladies waiting on table were just lovely. Thank you Fran for suggesting Roy Peters he was just great with the music during the meal and throughout the afternoon. It was a really memorable day for us and thank you all very much for making it so. We will have to visit you in the summer when the sunflowers and lavenders are out!”

  • Called in today and the place is a typical English pub. Beams horse, brasses and a lovely atmosphere. Great place for a pub lunch so try it if you are in the area.

  • “Arrived for lunch at a lovely outdoor seating area with a great variety of colourful flowers. The menu had lots of great meals which sounded great and had good prices. We had an amazing burger, scampi and fish & chips. Before we took the dogs for a walk we had a look around the back at the lavender meadow, flowered arches and gazebo where weddings take place. Lovely walks around the arboretum then came back for a excellent pot of tea which came in china cups with little shortbread biscuits. A perfect end to our day out. All this following Covid restrictions to the letter.”

  • “Had Sunday lunch at this coaching house today. Large car park and excellent welcome on arrival. Excellent atmosphere staff very knowledgeable and attentive. Excellent food main course was Cheshire Lamb which was succulent and tender. If you are in area recommend you try.”

  • “We hadn’t booked for lunch but they very very kindly found us a table, there were quite a few things not available on the menu as they are in the process of changing it. This didn’t bother us as we had gone for a traditional Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. Plenty of piping hot food a good selection of vegetables and three good slices of roast pork .”

  • The local surroundings are lovely and set in Cheshire countryside, greeted at door immediately on entering and shown to our table, drinks order promptly taken, and furnished with menus. Quick but not rushed service we are off to a good start. The only disappointment was my duck was cooked right through and I would much preferred it to be much pinker. This made what otherwise would have been a superb dish only a good one. But still a good one. Desserts were lovely, service fantastic, so very very nearly a five star rating I look forward to returning.

  • Sunday lunch with family, lovely pub/restaurant in a nice location. Booked in advance and was given a good table, excellent service and polite attentive staff. The food was piping hot and very tasty. Great pub and now a fixture on our favourite haunts – will definitely visit again.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal in this hidden gem. We had the Swettenham Arms recommended to us as we were staying nearby. We hadn’t booked as being a Thursday night we thought it would be fairly quiet, but it was almost full. The friendly manager found us a table and informed us that they still had a half price meal deal on… which greatly surprised us! The dining room was pleasant and cosy, and our drinks and food arrived and we certainly weren’t disappointed. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely return very soon….and hopefully the half price offer will still be on!

  • Lovely place. Food is beautiful and the decor is wonderful. Prices are quite high but the portions and quality make it entirely worth it. Staff are excellent. Lavender worth seeing during summer also – so beautiful!
