Cask Marque Accreditation

We take as much pride in our ales as we do in our food and we have the greatest pleasure in informing you that we have been presented the Cask Marque accreditation that is only awarded to the handful of pubs that serve the perfect pint.

As a freehouse we are able to feature small microbreweries wherever possible. We are not attached to any brewery and therefore not tied to any specific beer, which means we can offer a wider choice of real ales for the pleasure of our customers.

Ales, lagers and cider

We offer a range of Cask Ales, mostly from micro breweries, which change regularly, but may include Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Black Sheep, Beartown Brewery’s Kodiak Gold and Wincle’s Burkes Special. For lager drinkers, we feature British lagers by Freedom and Carling and Italian lager Peroni. Peroni is the best-selling Italian premium lager worldwide, and has a distinctive, crisp and refreshing taste. Carling is the UK’s number one lager, and its blend of bitterness and sweetness appeals to a wide audience. As well as these we have Strongbow Fruity Cider, Addlestones  and Stowford Press Ciders.  Our Guinness is perfect, just as you would expect in Ireland, all  our bar staff having had specialist training on how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness.

Wines for every palate

We carefully select our wines with the help of Boutinot Wines, the Sommelier Wine Award’s Wine Merchant of the Year for the last 4 years. From our range of reds, roses and whites from Europe, the Americas and the new world, you’ll find the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Available by the bottle, or by the glass – we offer something to indulge every palate.

Soft drinks and healthy options

As well as all the usual fruit juices and soft drinks available from the bar, we endeavor to provide healthy options wherever possible, so in addition you’ll find natural energising health drinks and quality bar snacks.

  • We stumbled upon this beautiful pub whilst out and about on a bike ride. We’re glad we did because it was a very welcoming place. We found a cosy corner table and enjoyed an evening meal here. Good ales on too. Service friendly and very efficient. Couldn’t fault our experience here. Would definitely revisit if in the area again and would recommend without hesitation.

  • What a delightful pub/restaurant. The menu was extensive and the food was absolutely delicious. It is a bit remote, but well worth the trouble getting there.

  • “I felt I had to write and thank you for the lovely evening we enjoyed on Friday, 30th Jan for an 80th birthday party. The setting outside and in was lovely and the food extremely good, as was the service. A special thank you to Glyn and staff.  I was very pleased with everything and had most favourable comments from all the guests, I would have no hesitation in recommending the Swettenham Arms to anyone.”

  • Spent my 50th at this fabulous place. Hired Lovell Suite and had marquee attached. The canapes, dressed buffet, service from staff at function and overall presentation was absolutely incredible. Glyn, the manager, was superb – communicated brilliantly and was such a professional host. Had the best time. Very highly recommended.

  • Party of 6 celebrating a Birthday on a Saturday lunchtime. Given the excellent tripadvisor reviews, booked a table in advance – we were not disappointed! It was fairly quiet when we arrived but soon became very busy. Service was quick and efficient and they looked after us with regards to a surprise birthday cake which we had taken along. The menu choice is good and the roasts are not limited to Sunday, therefore I opted for roast lamb dinner – gorgeous! It is the best roast dinner I have eaten for a long time in a pub! Other members in the party had chicken, pie, salmon and all enjoyed their meals and very reasonably priced for the quality of food. It is also a lovely drive out and we will definitely be returning again!

  • Lovely food and steak cooked perfectly. We often go here after a day out in the area as we live some thirty miles away and have never had a bad experience. The grounds and flowers are perfect on a sunny day to sit and relax with friends. Latest visit on a Sunday nearly every table was reserved but without signs on the table- had already purchased drinks and sat down for a good ten minutes with menus before being told this. Enjoyed the food and will return again.
