Around the world in eight dishes

At the Swettenham Arms, we like to do things a little differently and add a dash of originality. That’s why we’ve introduced our ‘Round the World’ culinary cruise offer during November– it’s not only great value for money but gives you the chance to try some imaginative dishes. For a three-course meal with a bottle of wine for two people comes to just £33, and you can choose from the following global cuisine:

Starters:

From France – sesame-fried duck and chicken livers with lardons. Traditional French cooking is very ‘meaty’, and duck livers (more commonly known as foie gras) are very typical of the southern regions, as are lardons (bits of bacon). We’ve added a little twist with the chicken livers which make the dish lighter.

From Italy: vine tomato and red onion bruschetta. One of Italy’s most famous dishes, the bruschetta is believed to date all the way back to ancient Rome. The name means ‘to roast over coals’, which is how it was originally prepared.

From India: spicy root vegetable soup. Warm curry flavours make this the perfect choice for autumn.

Mains:

From Asia: seafood tempura and stir fried vegetables. Tempura is one of Japan’s most common dishes, although its origins are actually Portuguese. The light, distinctive batter is what makes this dish special.

From Dubai: chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables, stuffed aubergine. Dubai’s cuisine has all sorts of Middle Eastern influences, including Iranian, Lebanese and Arabic dishes such as hummous, falafel and tabbouleh. We’ve chosen this aubergine dish paired with a hearty tomato sauce.

From America: BBQ stuffed breast of chicken with smoked sweet potato mash. Think USA, think barbecue! 

Desserts
