Posh frocks and red carpets at the ready – we’ve been nominated for a ‘Rural Oscar’ in the 2017 Country Alliance Awards. The awards are now in their 13th year and are the Country Alliance’s platform for celebrating rural businesses, produce and communities.
The awards are public-nomination led, meaning that we have been nominated by one or more people who value the remarkable contribution we make to our local area. Thousands of nominations were submitted in total across the UK, honouring the skills and produce, tradition, enterprise and the people who go the extra mile for their communities. The ‘Rural Oscars’ are something of a gold standard in rural business awards, so we’re delighted, excited and nervous, all at the same time! This is the first time we’ve been nominated, as the pub category is new for 2017, allowing customers to nominate their favourite rural local.
Of course we may not get any further, we await with hope and excitement and are so grateful to those who nominated us.
From thousands of nominations seven regional champions from five categories will be invited to Parliament for the British finals, and in the presence of MPs and Ministers just five will be crowned British Champions. Regional champions will be announced in March 2018, with Welsh businesses attending a special reception at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff. The regional champions then advance to the British final, which will be held in April 2018 at the House of Lords. How wonderful would that be?
Watch this space for more news – we’re already working on our acceptance speech in front of the mirror! A big thank you again to everyone who nominated us. If you’d like to see what all the fuss is about, why not come and see us for lunch or dinner? A location map is available on our Contact page.
