A day in the life of a country pub

Here at the Swettenham Arms, we have a wide variety of customers who come for our stunning rural location and delicious homemade food. Recently, we had two very different sets of customers, which made us realise just how varied the life of a country pub can be! In July, we were honoured to play host to the Cloud Group of Women’s Institutes. Secretary Sue Clarke later sent us this lovely thank you letter:

“On behalf of the members of the Cloud Group of Women’s Institutes, I wish to thank you and your staff for providing us with a superb day on July 1st, helping us to celebrate 100 years of the WI.

“The lunch was most enjoyable and the weather was perfect, in fact a little too perfect,- being the hottest day of the year!  Your staff were wonderful and very attentive and members thank them for the endless jugs of iced water they supplied to them.

“We all had a great day, and many thanks again to yourself and the team for their total efficiency.  It is wonderful to have a great team who take pride in the work they do.”

Many thanks to Sue for taking the trouble to write such a lovely warm letter, we do appreciate it.

Our second event was at a summer wedding held in our lavender field, when we were amused to see four guests streaking through the flowers!   Definitely a first for the Swettenham Arms.  We’re not sure how the two men and two women managed to avoid all the resident bees, but we hope they did!

Variety is definitely what keeps life interesting, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings. If you’d like to book an event, give us a call on 01477 571284 – there’s very little we can’t cope with!
